Annual recertification of the BCD is based on your affirming that you have met the following standards (subject to audit):

• Currency of Practice (at least 300 hours of practice within the year);
• State Licensure in good standing (unless officially exempt);
• Ethical practice (see Code of Ethics);
• 20 Hours of Continuing Education (in applicable states and settings)
• Selection of BCD Status and Payment of Fee.

Annual recertification sends a clear message to employers, referral-makers, and payor systems; it is a big part of what makes the BCD truly the “gold standard” among mental healthcare certifications.
